Show your appreciation for the service of our Veterans by making Valentine’s Day cards and dropping them off at your local Marinette County public library by February 5, 2018. The cards will be sent to the VA Hospital in Iron Mountain and given to local Veterans in time for Valentine’s Day. Please help us show our Veterans that we are grateful for their sacrifices and remember their service to our country.
It’s here!! We have our Fall 2017 Program Guide available for you. If you want to check it out before you come to the library or print one out at home, go for it. (Note that it is in an 8″ x 14″ format.) Happy planning. Please call the library or stop by if you have questions about programs. 715.732.7570
Free Glasses: We are so happy to share the news that our libraries will have free solar eclipse safety glasses to pass out! These will be available the DAY OF THE ECLIPSE. We are not distributing them early as we need to be sure to have enough on hand at our events. We look forward to seeing everyone on August 21st! Please check with your branch library to see what time their event will begin.
Time: The eclipse lasts for several hours, so we understand that you may want to finish your observation off site. That works! You will be able to take your glasses with you that day. The eclipse will begin at approximately 11:54 a.m. and end at 2:36 p.m.
Safety: For your safety, it is important to use undamaged, unscratched safety glasses. Even a small scratch can result in eye damage.
Options for other safe observation can be found here: https://www.space.com/35555-total-solar-eclipse-safety-tips.html

Great news! If you are looking for computers that are not online to take care of various word processing tasks, i.e. resumes, cvs, etc., you can use our off-line computers located on the second floor. They have recently been upgraded to Windows 10 and Microsoft Suite 16. You do not need to have a library card to use these. You can print from them for $.20/page. Plan to bring a flash/jump/thumb drive to save your documents, or purchase one at the front desk for $2/1Gig.
If you use Google Chrome, you can add an extension that will check the Infosoup database for books you may be considering purchasing on Amazon. One click will then take you to infosoup where you can put a hold on that book! Here’s where you can get more information…. https://www.libraryextension.com/
