Natural Ice Harvesting on the Menominee River
April 24, 2017 at 6 PM
Stephenson Public Library
The Crystal Ice Company harvested ice on the Menominee River until the winter of 1964/1965. Join Tim Cox for a special presentation on how his family’s business harvested ice from the river and got it into local homes and businesses before standard refrigeration. Mr. Cox will talk about his family’s business and the process of ice harvesting, including how the processes of cutting and culling ice changed with the introduction of motorized equipment. He will show photographs and film footage from Crystal Ice Company’s last harvest and bring hand tools used by his grandfather.
The public is welcome to this free event.

In rare cases, it can result in violence. UW-Extension Agent Ellen Geisler will help us think through three deliberative solutions provided by the National Issues Forum.

Even if you’ve never picked up a ukulele or can’t carry a tune, you will learn some basics to help motivate you to start.
Ukulele Strum Along is geared toward parents and caregivers; children are welcome to attend with their parent. Bring your ukulele to the Stephenson Public Library for this free event. If you don’t have a ukulele, come anyway to sing along!
