Solar Eclipse Events: ALL BRANCHES

Free Glasses: We are so happy to share the news that our libraries will have free solar eclipse safety glasses to pass out!  These will be available the DAY OF THE ECLIPSE.  We are not distributing them early as we need to be sure to have enough on hand at our events.   We look forward to seeing everyone on August 21st!  Please check with your branch library to see what time their event will begin.

Time: The eclipse lasts for several hours, so we understand that you may want to finish your observation off site.  That works!  You will be able to take your glasses with you that day.  The eclipse will begin at approximately 11:54 a.m. and end at 2:36 p.m.

Safety: For your safety, it is important to use undamagedunscratched safety glasses.  Even a small scratch can result in eye damage.

Options for other safe observation can be found here: https://www.space.com/35555-total-solar-eclipse-safety-tips.html

Summer Reading Club Finale and Story Time

Pete the Cat

Story Time: Join us at the Stephenson Public Library in Marinette on Friday, August 11th at 10:00 a.m. for our Pete the Cat Story Time and SRC Celebration! This is part of the Kid’s Day in Marinette events.  We will read stories, move, grove, and meet Pete!  Participants are welcome to have their photo taken with Pete as well.

Donations: We will also be presenting the Animal Shelter, St. Vincent dePaul food pantry, and the Fairy Godmother Project with their checks.  The money was earned by participants in the “Build a Better World” Summer Reading Club courtesy of a donation by our Friends of the Library group. We hope that this helps everyone feel that they can make a difference right here in our community.

If you would like to make an additional donation to any of these groups, you can bring them in on that day.  Attached are a list of suggestions provided by the groups: SVdP list.docx MAS shelter list Project Give Fairy Godmother List

More Pete coming soon…. Schools also had the chance to earn a visit from Pete the Cat for their elementary school by earning the most points for their team by reading, creating, learning, and doing with the Summer Reading Club.
