June 2018 - Marinette County Consolidated Libraries

Kids Book Club @ Wausaukee on July 16th @ 1PM

Join the Kids Book Club on Monday, July 16th @ 1PM to discuss The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey.  This book club is open to 4th grade through 8th grade.  Copies of the book are available at the library.  Please call for more information at 715-856-5995.

After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother–or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

Book Club @ Wausaukee on July 23 @ 4PM

Join the Book Club @ the Wausaukee Library on July 23 @ 4PM to discuss Wonder by R. J. Palacio.  Our adult book club chose this title because of its relevance to all ages.  Copies of the book are available at the library.  Call for more information at 715-856-5995.

I won’t describe what I look like. Whatever you’re thinking, it’s probably worse.

August Pullman was born with a facial difference that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. Starting 5th grade at Beecher Prep, he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid—but his new classmates can’t get past Auggie’s extraordinary face. WONDER begins from Auggie’s point of view but soon switches to include his classmates, his sister, her boyfriend, and others. These perspectives converge in a portrait of one community’s struggle with empathy, compassion and acceptance.
